Freewell Triple Charger for the GoPro Hero 5 Black

Today we are taking a look at the triple charger by Freewell for the GoPro Hero 5 Black. This charger has a nice slim design that easily fits into your pocket and doesn’t take up much room in your backpack or camera bag. It has a nice carbon fibre look and feels durable and strong. This GoPro battery charger is capable of charging 3 GoPro Hero 5 batteries simultaneously in just under 2 hours which is really nice.

One of the best features of this battery charger is the fact that it is an enclosed unit. This design allows for the charger to act as a battery case for your Hero 5 batteries instead of having them floating around lose in your camera bag, they are quite small and can be hard to find that way. The other benefit is you can plug the Freewell GoPro Charger into a power bank and charge all your batteries on the go. Because it has a lid the batteries stay securely in place while charging even if cycling or hiking, jostling around in your bag won’t knock them loose.

Freewell GoPro Hero 5 charger and power bank. Great for charging on the go.

During my testing I found that using and Anker power bank I was able to charge 3 batteries all drained to under 5% in just under 2 hours. You can use any USB socket to use this charger. The port on the charging unit is a USB-C type socket and comes with a USB-C cable. There are built in LED light to signify when the batteries are charging. Red LED’s means the batteries are charging and when they turn blue they are finished.

LED’s change from red to blue when charging is complete.

All in all I am extremely pleases with this GoPro charger and would recommend it to anyone who is in the market for a multi charger for their GoPro Hero 5 Batteries. You can watch our YouTube video review below.

Must Have $10 Upgrade For Your GoPro

If you own a GoPro this is a very inexpensive must have upgrade that everyone needs. One annoyance that I have had with my GoPro is having to remove it from the frame every time I want to charge it or plug in a microphone. With this 3rd party GoPro frame you can open and remove the charging door on your GoPro without having to remove it from the frame, saving a lot of time and aggravation. This frame also seems to be a better build quality than the stock frames, it has a nice rubberized coating. This is such a simple little fix, I wonder why GoPro has not implemented it yet on their official frames. Because they all have the same form factor this 3rd party frame is compatible with the Hero 5 Black, Hero 6 Black and the new GoPro Hero (2018).

GoPro Upgraded Frame:

This 3rd Party frame allows easy access to the GoPro charging door.

You can see the difference in the cutout. Stock GoPro frame on the right and 3rd party frame on the left.

Charging door can easily be opened and removed without having to remove the camera from the frame.

Allows you to easily charge your GoPro or plug in a microphone.
