🔄 Method 1: Automatic Update via Insta360 App (Recommended)
What You Need:
- Insta360 X5
- Smartphone with Insta360 app installed
- Internet connection
- Fully charged battery
- microSD card inserted in the camera
Steps:
- Power On the Camera
Turn on your Insta360 X5 and make sure a microSD card is inserted. - Open the Insta360 App
Launch the Insta360 mobile app on your smartphone. - Connect to the Camera
Connect the camera to your phone via Wi-Fi or USB cable. The app should detect the camera automatically. - Check for Firmware Update
If a firmware update is available, the app will display a prompt. If not, go to the camera settings menu inside the app to manually check. - Download the Update
Tap “Update” to download the latest firmware package to your phone. - Transfer Firmware to Camera

Steps:
- Download Firmware File on Your Computer
Download the correct firmware file for your camera model (X5) from Insta360’s official source. - Insert the microSD Card into Your Computer
Use a card reader or adapter to access the microSD card on your computer. - Copy the Firmware File
Place the firmware file in the root directory of the microSD card (not inside any folder). - Eject and Insert the Card into the Camera
Safely eject the card from your computer and insert it into the powered-off Insta360 X5. - Power On the Camera
Turn on the camera. It will automatically detect the firmware file and begin updating. - Wait for the Update to Complete
The camera’s screen will show update progress. Do not power off or remove the card during this process. - Camera Will Reboot Automatically
Once the update is complete, the camera will restart. You can check the new firmware version in the settings menu.

- Ensure your camera has at least 50% battery before starting.
- Always use a high-quality, U3-rated microSD card.
- Do not remove the battery, card, or power off the camera during the update.
- After updating, format your SD card to remove the update file.
